The visit earlier this week of the first finalist for the IUP Provost and Vice President of Academic Affairs position has still not been rescheduled after a death in her family. Meanwhile, the second of the four finalists will come to campus tomorrow.
Timothy Moerland, the dean of the College of Arts and Sciences at Kent State in Ohio, will visit the next two days to meet the university community and learn more about IUP.
Moerland has been in his current position since 2008 and is also a professor of biological sciences. Prior to Kent State, he was chairman of the Department of Biological Science at Florida State for five years, and was an associate dean. He’s a graduate of Michigan State who earned his PhD in zoology from the University of Maine.
IUP President Mike Driscoll is also a graduate of Michigan State.
Moerland will take part in an open forum for students, staff, and the community from 3 to 4 PM tomorrow, and for the faculty from 4 to 5 PM. Both sessions will be held at the Wallwork Multipurpose Room. A second round of open forums is scheduled for Friday, with the students, staff, and community event from 11:30 to 12:30 and the faculty event from 5:30 to 6:30, both at the Crimson Event Center in Folger Hall.
