The annual fall meeting of the State System of Higher Education Board of Governors is today in Harrisburg. They gathered yesterday to work on issues in preparation for today’s formal meeting, which will feature the budget projection for each university.
At IUP, revenues are projected to increase 4.6 percent, with a $9.4 million increase in the use of carryforward fund balance aiding an overall $9.5 million increase. Expenditures, however, are projected to go up 5.3 percent, or $11 million. That includes increases in salaries and benefits totaling 2.7 percent, utiltiites going up 2 percent, service and supplies 2.4 percent, and capital expenditures and transfers 26.1 percent.
The financial projections do not take into account the ongoing labor negotiations with the faculty and coaches unions. APSCUF members will be at the meeting today to demand movement on a new labor deal.
The Board of Governors will also approve their state budget request for the next fiscal year at today’s meeting.
