Area fire companies have had a busy time of it this weekend, including a rare December brush fire yesterday. Firefighters from Plumville and Perry Township (Jefferson County) were summoned to a brush fire along Route 954 in North Mahoning Township just before 5 o’clock last night, and Marion Center was called to join them minutes later. There had also been a brush fire along Snyder Lane in Burrell Township Friday night.
Other fire calls this weekend have included a gas leak to which Indiana firefighters were called along Wren Street in White Township last night. They had earlier been called for smoke in a structure on North 10thStreet in Indiana Borough. Blairsville and Black Lick firefighters were called for a vehicle accident on Resort Drive in Burrell Township yesterday afternoon.
A report on the structure fire along Dixonville Road in Green Township Friday night…the fire was limited to a stove at the home of Billy Huber when a towel hanging on the oven door caught fire while the oven was heating up. No one was hurt.
