There is a preliminary hearing scheduled today for 44-year-old Charles Payson, a Blairsville man who is charged with 22 felony counts involving child pornography.
Payson is accused of creating and distributing pornography that District Attorney Pat Dougherty last week said depicted children involved in sex acts. Felony charges include ten counts each of possession of child pornography and dissemination of photos of children in sex acts, plus two counts of depicting on a computer sex acts involving children. In addition, Payson is charged with misdemeanor tampering with evidence for trying to destroy a hard drive when detectives arrived at his home with a search warrant.
Payson has been in the Indiana County Jail with bond set at $50,000 since his arrest November 24th. He will appear before District Judge Susanne Steffee at 10:30 this morning.
