Lewis Beatty, the South Mahoning Township man accused of killing his two young daughters and estranged wife, was sentenced Friday to three consecutive life sentences in prison.
Beatty stood before Indiana County Judge Tom Bianco Friday and said of the June murders of his daughters and wife, “It shouldn’t have happened, I’m very remorseful and I’m sorry.”

In accepting the plea arrangement, District Attorney Patrick Dougherty agreed to take the death penalty off the table. He says the arrangement puts strict limits on any appeals that Beatty or his attorneys could file.
Christine Beatty’s parents, Ron and Lorna Smail also attended a press conference after Friday’s sentencing but became too emotional to speak.
