Part-time interim post to help nonprofit seek Seal of Excellence

The Indiana County Humane Society has hired Heidi Malin as its interim executive director to lead the organization through a voluntary certification program for nonprofits committed to advancing ethics and accountability.

Malin, of Keystone Fundraising Solutions, will help guide the Humane Society through the Pennsylvania Association of Nonprofit Organizations Standards for Excellence Program.  She was hired on a part-time basis for a six-month term.

Former Executive Director Lisa Wier will assume the fulltime position of kennel manager while continuing to serve as the county’s humane officer.  Humane Society Board of Directors chair Kathie Lambert praised Wier for her work as executive director, but said they really need her fiull-time energies focused on animal care and the adoption process as the organization prepares to move into its new building along Airport Road.

Success in fulfilling the Standards for Excellence through the state association of nonprofits would result in the Humane Society becoming only the second organization in Indiana County to be awarded a Seal of Excellence.
