A preliminary hearing for 43-year-old Woodrow Hicks Jr. is scheduled today before District Judge Guy Haberl. Hicks is accused of arranging a sexual encounter with a 15-year-old girl at the White Township Wal Mart parking lot in November. He was intercepted by state police when he arrived for the rendezvous, and fled but was apprehended.
At a hearing November 15th, Haberl upgraded a corruption of minors charge to a felony and increased the bail amount from $30,000 to $45,000.
Hicks, who is from Indiana, is being held at the Indiana County Jail. He was originally charged with five original felony counts, including aggravated assault for resisting arrest, statutory sexual assault and attempted statutory sexual assault, unlawful contact with a minor for sexual offense, and the corruption of minors upgrade. Prosecutors have added four more felonies, two for child pornography and two for criminal use of a communications facility. He also is charged with three misdemeanors: resisting arrest, fleeing or attempting to elude police, and simple assault.
