The Marion Center Area School Board meets tonight for its regular January meeting. The board is expected to continue the discussion started at last week’s work session, on security at the district’s buildings.
The discussion comes in the wake of the deadly shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Connecticut, although district officials say their discussion preceded the tragedy. Also on the agenda tonight, members will vote on a resolution that they will not raise taxes above the state index.
They’ll also vote to allow district officials to draw up and present the preliminary budget. The school board is also set to vote tonight on the hiring or re-hiring of a long list of athletic coaches. Tonight’s meeting is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. at the McCreery Middle School Library.
