The plows still have much to do on our area roadways this winter, but PennDOT is dreaming of the coming construction season. In fact, they will get a jump on it this week.
Work will begin this week to replace the 89-year-old bridge carrying Route 56 over Brush Creek in Brush Valley Township. The bridge, which carries about 4,500 vehicles per day, will remain open except for a one-week detour in August. Traffic will be restricted to a single lane at a time controlled by temporary signals. The work will also include major roadwork on the bridge approaches.
It’s a $2.9 million project that is expected to be completed in May of next year.
