The APSCUF negotiating committee last night unanimously approved a tentative contract agreement with the State System of Higher Education. The faculty union’s panel of representatives from IUP and the thirteeen other state-owned universities voted on the deal in a system-wide teleconference. It will be voted on Friday by the union’s legislative assembly, and if approved, sent to the rank and file for the final vote.
The contract would be for four years and the union says it mirrors the deals reached by Governor Corbett with the state’s other unions. That doesn’t necessarily sit well with some of the 5,500 union members, who on Twitter have said they wanted a deal which does not require them to contribute to their health care premiums.
Both the union and the State System say they will release details on the accord after it is ratified.
