The Homer-Center School Board met last night and approved a preliminary budget. By a 7-0 vote, the board approved the $15,166,000 budget with a real estate tax of 131.46 mills.
The preliminary budget includes the maximum allowable tax increase under Act 1, but that could change after several budget workshops that have been scheduled for future months.
In other business, the board unanimously approved its proportional share of $5,000 to support the Challenger Center, which several local entities are continuing to work on developing. Finally, the board unanimously voted to authorize bids from companies for the school district’s waste disposal.
