Job description still vague but board still will advertise for position

The Marion Center School Board last night took the next steps towards possibly hiring a security officer for the schools.  The board approved the development of a job description, a staffing model for the position, and the advertisement for a full or part time school security officer.
Developing the job description passed by a 7-2 vote, but discussion was heated over the other two steps.  Some board members, like Karen Risinger, said that it would not be right to start advertising the position without detailed guidelines.
Board President Gregg Sacco said he felt advertising for the job with the minimal requirements in place is a part of the information gathering process.
The action to develop the staffing model and advertising for the position passed 6-3.

In other business, the school board gave the approval for the administration to research the feasability of a foreign language course to be offered at the elementary levels, and the board also approved the solicitation of bids for security cameras.
