A ribbon cutting celebrating the start of the 7th Street and Vinegar Hill project was held in Downtown Indiana Tuesday.
The project will not only renovate the wall and steps on Vinegar Hill, but will also complete a beautification effort on North Seventh Street beteween Philadelphia and Water Streets. Hastee Kinter, the chairperson for the Renaissance Indiana Project, said that the roots of the future IRMC Park and the renovations to Vinegar Hill go back to her mother's project in the late 80's-early 90's.
The project got a lot of support from many different agencies, including IRMC, Downtown Indiana, Borough Council, and the County Commissioners. State Senator Don White and State Representative Dave Reed also helped by acquiring needed funds for the project. Reed said that it was very important to get the funds for this long-standing project.
This project is expected to be finished by the end of 2014.
