Two more jurors, four alternates still to be chosen

After an exhaustive day in Westmoreland County Court yesterday, ten jurors have now been chosen for the Kevin Murphy triple murder trial.  The attorneys will be back at it again today, with two more members and four alternates still to be selected.

The 52-year-old Murphy, who’s from Conemaugh Township in Indiana County, is accused of gunning down his mother, sister, and aunt in April 2009 at the family’s glass business in Loyalhanna Township outside of Saltsburg.

After Judge Al Bell tightened his standards for excusals, the main stumbling block to empaneling a jury yesterday was reticence about imposing the death penalty, which District Attorney John Peck is seeking.  The judge hopes to get the trial going on Monday.
