Jury selection is set to start Monday in the case of a North Mahoning Township man accused of killing his father-in-law. Earlier this week, Judge William Martin denied a motion to compel enforcement of a plea bargain in the case against Shaun Fairman.
Fairman is accused of going to the home of his estranged wife. When he arrived, police say he was confronted by his father-in-law Richard Shotts, who Fairman then shot and killed. After the shooting, police say Fairman went room to room in the home near Trade City, looking for his wife.
He found her in an upstairs bedroom but she shot him before he could shoot her. She then held him at bay until police arrived.
