At the Kevin Murphy triple-murder trial yesterday, Donald Shondelmyer took the stand for a second day of testimony, and revealed that he has been living with Susan McGuire, the woman with whom Murphy had been involved prior to the murder’s of Murphy’s mother, sister, and aunt; and Shondelmyer said he and McGuire live in the house where Kevin Murphy and victims Doris and Kris Murphy lived on Wood Street in Conemaugh Township.
Shondelmyer also said that since Kevin Murphy’s arrest in April 2010, he and McGuire have been running the Ferguson Glass Shop, which is where the murders occurred. Murphy bought the glass shop from Shondelmyer’s family in 2000 and moved it to its current location in Loyalhanna Township outside of Saltsburg.
Shondelmyer told defense attorney Bob Bell that he became involved with McGuire after Murphy’s arrest and they’ve been living in Murphy’s old house for a little over a year. The prosecution claims Murphy killed the victims at McGuire’s urging because they were concerned about the fact that McGuire was a married woman. She was in the process of getting a divorce at the time of the shootings. McGuire has not been charged.
Also yesterday, two state troopers testified that Murphy admitted his affair with McGuire, but consistently denied any knowledge of the murders.
Day Four of the trial is today in Westmoreland County Court.
