New charges have been filed against the 41-year-old Kittanning man who is already facing trial for stashing his 15-year-old girlfriend in an apartment in Shelocta in April. State police have now charged Gregory Shaffer with involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, aggravated indecent assault, corruption of minors, and indecent assault.
The new charges stem from an April 5th incident when Shaffer and the girl were found in a room at the Holiday Inn Express in East Franklin, Armstrong County.
This is the third time since April that Shaffer has been charged in connection with the same 15-year-old girl. The original charges, for taking the girl to his apartment at the old Shelocta Hotel, were concealment of the whereabouts of a child, interference with the custody of a child, and corruption of minors. Those charges were previously waived to court for trial.
The second set of charges were filed last month after the girl’s foster mother found out that Shaffer and the girl were texting each other, often with graphic sexual content, and had even discussed marriage. Police found more than 700 texts and charged Shaffer with statutory sexual assault, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, solicitation for both of those crimes, disseminating explicit sexual material to a minor, and related offenses. He was to have had a hearing on those charges yesterday, but the results of that hearing have not been posted yet.
Shaffer is being held at the Armstrong County Jail.
