A Brush Valley Township man is dead following a car accident yesterday afternoon. Indiana County Chief Deputy Coroner Jerry Overman says the accident happened 3:20 p.m. yesterday along Route 259, near the intersection with Brookdale Lane.
Overman says that 83-year-old Robert Penrod was traveling north when his car crossed the center line and hit a vehicle driven by 70-year-old Clayton Libengood.
Libengood had minor injuries and was taken to Indiana Regional Medical Center. Penrod was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident due to blunt force trauma to the chest. Overman says Penrod was not wearing a seat belt. Toxicology tests in regard to the accident are pending.
