There’s still about one week left to register for a special training session addressing school shootings. The training is scheduled for the Homer Center High School Auditorium on August 7th from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Educators are invited to the training, which will cover several different areas, including: attack; defensive and countermeasure techniques; psychological management; agency response; media management; recovery; and prevention.
The presentation is free but registration is only being accepted through July 26th at www.indianacountyhhss.org. This is one of several training sessions held over the past year in Indiana County, including last year’s “Active Shooter” training session at the Kovalchick Convention and Athletic Complex. Continuing Education Credits and Act 48 hours will be available and the training is not restricted to people from Indiana County. Officials say they’ve received 310 registrations for the session, with 350 people expected.
