The National Weather Service in Pittsburgh has issued a Flood Warning for Indiana County that will remain in effect until 4:15 this afternoon.

The NWS says that over an inch of rain fell in parts of Indiana County over the past hour, which had been under a flood advisory at the time.  Reports from the National Weather Service say multiple roads are closed and back roads are washed out.  Small streams and creeks have also begun to flow out over their banks onto roadways and properties.  Blairsville Fire Department is currently helping people pump out basements.

Flooding has also been reported in Saltsburg Borough and Loyalhanna Township.

A flood warning means flooding is imenent, and while it will not come as fast as a flash flood, all interested parties should take precautions.

If you are out driving and see a flooded roadway, turn around and drive the other way as flood waters can be deeper than they appear.
