Senator Don White and Representative Dave Reed have announced state PennVEST funding totaling $3.185 million for a new sewage treatment plant and 350 feet of new sewer lines in Saltsburg Borough.
Senator White says the project will address some serious contamination problems that crop up during wet weather. The current system backs up as storm runoff enters the lines, resulting in discharges of raw sewage into the Conemaugh River)
Representative Reed says the project will benefit not only Saltsburg, but everyone downriver from the town. He says it “fits right in” with a number of recent projects that protect both local residents and the environment.
The funding is in the form of a $1.58 million grant and a $1.6 million low-interest loan for the borough.
