State police have announced that their suspect in the shooting of an IUP Student early Thursday morning turned himself in without incident.
A news release from Indiana-Based State Police says that 29-year-old Eagan Minich turned himself into authorities shortly after 4 p.m. on Friday at the State Police Headquarters on Route 286 in Indiana.
Minich is accused of following IUP Student Hayden Warmke from the intersection of 7th and Philadelphia Streets to the Maple Street Apartments in White Township. Police believe that when Warmke stepped out of his car, Minich hit him several times, knocking him to the ground. Police then say that Minich continued his assault, which included Minich shooting Warmke in the leg with a handgun before fleeing the area in his car.
Minich is facing one count of attempted criminal homicide, two counts of aggravated assault and making terroristic threats. He is now in Indiana County Jail awaiting his preliminary arraignment in front of District Justice Guy Haberl.
