Icy road conditions undoubtedly contributed to the high number of accidents on the area’s roadways Saturday.
The first accident calls started just before 8 AM. There were crashes on East Kittanning Street in Smicksburg, Airport Road in Cherryhill Township, the intersection of Routes 156 and 422 in Shelocta (in that one, a vehicle struck the Shelocta Beer Outlet), Johnston Road in Washington Township, and along the Patchin Highway in Cambria County, just outside of Indiana County early Sunday morning.
Weather conditions may have been involved in several other calls yesterday, including traffic control dispatches on Route 119 North in North Mahoning Township and Indian Springs Road in White Township, and a tree down along Route 954 in South Mahoning Township.
