Mary J. Spinner, 96, of Newark, Ohio, formerly of Lucernemines, walked her path to heaven Thursday, April 2, 2020. She was a daughter of August and Elizabeth (Hubner) Pozik and was born July 10, 1923, in Nanty Glo.
Mary was a huge Steelers fan and wouldn’t even answer the phone if anyone called during their games. She loved spending time with her family, dancing and gardening, and was especially fond of her grand-dogs Oreo and Angel. She worked for the defense plant for three years during World War II, nine years for a supply company and three to four years by Riverside Deli in Indiana.
She is survived by her two daughters, Gloria Kirila, of Brookfield, Ohio, and Marlene and husband Dale Brown, of Alexandria, Ohio; her grandchildren, William Kirila Jr. and wife Robin, of Brookfield, Ohio; Gina and husband Gilberto Carmo, of Rio De Janeiro, Brazil; and Tiffany Malagisi and husband Chuck, of Columbus, Ohio; and her great-grandchildren William, Koa and Mia.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph; sisters Irene Mrazik and Betty Andrews; brothers Joe Pozik and Alex Pozik; and an infant sister, Elizabeth.
A special thank you to all the caregivers and special people at Sharonbrooke Assisted Living and Mary’s compassionate angels, Elaine and Gigi, from Heartland Hospice.
Due to public health concerns at this time, services will be private. Interment will be at St. Bernard Cemetery.
