James J. Cochran, 90 of Homer City, died Saturday, January 13, 2024 at Miners Hospital, Hastings. Born in Homer City on December 28, 1933, he was a son of the late James William Cochran and Bertha (Matthews) Cochran. He was the widower of Mary Jane (Croyle) Cochran who died July 12, 2016.
Over his working career, Jim worked as a coal miner, tree logger and retired from the former Fisher Scientific in Indiana where he worked in maintenance.
He enjoyed hunting and spending time outdoors. He was a former member of the Barclay Wesleyan Methodist Church in Buffington Township.
He is remembered by his children: Sueann Jean Lewis, Northern Cambria and James Richard Cochran and his wife, Jackie, Brush Valley. He is also survived by eight grandchildren, several great grandchildren, and a great niece, Brenda Graham and her husband, Bill of Homer City who looked after Jim and cared for him for many years.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his son, Ronald Dean Cochran and by most of his seventeen siblings.
Service arrangements are private. Cremation at Rairigh-Bence Funeral Home & Crematory of Indiana, 965 Philadelphia St. Burial will be at Brush Valley Methodist Cemetery.
