William Wayne Lloyd, 82, Marion Center, passed away Saturday, January 13, 2024, unexpectedly at his home.
The son of Wayne Lloyd and Leda (Buterbaugh) Lloyd, he was born in Green Township, Indiana County. Bill was a 1959 graduate of Purchase Line High School and married his high school sweetheart, Shirley, in 1963. He served four years in the U.S. Army, including a tour in South Korea.
For the next 20 years he worked in the gas well business gaining valuable experience to enable him, along with a partner, to form Whipstock Natural Gas Services. He retired in 1999 which allowed him time to pursue the hobbies he enjoyed: fishing, hunting, raising ornamental pheasants, stone masonry, and growing hostas/flowers. Bill took great pleasure using his gifts of stone masonry and raising plants to share with others. But, his greatest joy was being with family, especially watching his children and grandchildren grow, they in turn cherished his influence in their lives. He enjoyed meeting monthly with his classmates for breakfast, and looked forward to Tuesday morning fellowship with his buddies at the Marion Center Dart League. He was also attended the First Church of God in Indiana.
Surviving is his loving wife of 60 years, Shirley (Shick) Lloyd; a son, Kevin, State College; daughter, Melissa (Bob) Sturrock, Reynoldsville; four grandchildren, Elena Lloyd, State College, Grace Lloyd, San Francisco, Jackson Sturrock and fiancée, Caitlin Kalgren, Indiana, PA, and Luke Sturrock, Washington, PA; sisters, Patricia Lloyd, Cleveland, and Diana (Lee) Falcon, Houston.
