The Steelers have signed free agent wide receiver Van Jefferson to a one-year contract. The 6-1, 200-pounder plays both in the slot and on the outside and has blazing downfield speed. He’s averaged 14.2 yards per catch in four seasons in the NFL with the Rams and the Falcons, who acquired him from LA in the middle of last season. He caught 20 passes for 209 yards last season.

Cowboys linebacker Leighton Vander Esch is retiring from football after six seasons due to recurring neck injuries. The former Dallas first-round draft pick missed time in 2019, ‘22, and ’23 because of persistent neck injuries.
