Steelers rookie minicamp begins on Friday and runs through the weekend, and the list of players who will or will not be there continues to change.
The Draft Network’s Justin Melo reports that cornerback Shon Stephens, who had accepted an invitation to attend the camp, has signed a contract with the Eagles so he won’t be there for the Steelers. Stephens is the cousin of Joey Porter Jr. Duquesne wide receiver DJ Powell has been invited, as has former Dayton quarterback Cole Dow, who may be tried at QB or at wide receiver.
Over the Cap’s Nick Korte predicts the Steelers will not receive any compensatory draft picks next year, based on the quality of the players they signed in free agency this season compared to the quality of the players they lost. In other words, the Steelers got better through free agency rather than worse. Korte, by the way, predicts that the Ravens will get four extra picks, including one for losing linebacker Patrick Queen to the Steelers.
