Japanese sensation Roki Sasaki will be posted for MLB teams this winter, according to reports from the GM meetings this past week, but if you think the Pirates will make a strong push for him… think again. While all 30 clubs have the chance at signing the hard-throwing right-hander, the Pirates have 22-to-1 odds at signing him, placing them 17th in the league.
The Dodgers are currently the favorites to sign Sasaki, followed by the Padres, Mets, Mariners, and Giants.
Pirates outfielder Bryan Reynolds did not win MLB’s Silver Slugger Award in the utility player category. That went to Dodgers outfielder and second baseman Mookie Betts. Reynolds slashed .275/.344/.447 with 24 home runs and a .791 OPS in 156 games with the Pirates this year.
