IUP volleyball opened its run in the Division II Atlantic Regional Tournament with a 3-0 sweep of Shepherd yesterday at Gannon University. The scores were 25-16, 25-21, and 25-22.
Delaney Concannon led the Hawks with 10 kills. Nyla Birch added 8 and Lauren Valentic 7. Freshman Jessica Neiman finished with four of IUP’s 10 total service aces.
IUP will play Wheeling University at four o’clock this afternoon in the second round of the tournament.
The American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) announced their All-Region teams this week. Neiman was named AVCA Division II All-Atlantic Freshman of the Year and coach Lorelle Hoyer was named Coach of the Year. Valentic was named AVCA All-Atlantic First Team.
