Sidney Crosby wants to be playing in the Stanley Cup playoffs right now, but the Penguins’ captain is willing to settle for playing for Team Canada in the IIHF World Hockey Championships. Crosby last played in the tournament in 2015, leading Team Canada to the gold medal.
The World Championships will be held May 9th through the 14th in Stockholm, Sweden and in Herning, Denmark. In the preliminary round, Team Canada will open against Slovenia on Saturday.
Team USA plays its first preliminary round game against Team Denmark in Denmark on Friday.
