An Indiana County Corrections officer was honored on Friday with a ceremony at the county jail.
During the ceremony, the Correctional Emergency Response Team, or CERT Room was dedicated to Michael Lloyd. The room will contain a shadow box that has Lloyd’s uniform. Lloyd was remembered as someone wholly committed to his job and someone who could diffuse a situation with his sense of humor.
On top of the dedication, the UMWA local 4702 and 2193 announced the creation of a scholarship in his honor. The $600 scholarship will go towards students seeking careers in Law Enforcement who have a 3.0 GPA and have amassed at least 20 hours of community service.
Lloyd died in 2021 due to the effects of Covid-19.
