Firefighters were sent out for a car that crashed into a garage building in Rayne Township yesterday morning.
Marion Center and Plumville firefighters were sent by Indiana County 911 to a home near the intersection of Route 85 and Dogwood Circle for the incident. According to a post on the department’s Facebook page, Marion Center fire officials said that one person was trapped in the vehicle. Several temporary support poles were set up to stabilize the building by Indiana County’s EMA Team. It took them 20 minutes to extricate the victim, who had limited injuries.
Pine Township and Cherryhill Township fire departments were also busy on Monday night with their own call for a car into a building.
The two departments were sent out at 6:30 PM to a home on Route 403 South in Pine Township near the 422 turnoff going to Vintondale. as the two companies were sent out for a reported vehicle accident. Officials say that the car went off the road, hit the front door and the whole front end of the car went into the house. The driver was taken to the hospital with unknown injuries. A teenager that was in the house at the time was not hurt.
There were concerns about a tire that had caught fire, so Indiana County 911 upgraded the call to a structure fire, but bystanders were able to put the fire out before crews arrived.
