The District 6 playoffs got underway last night with two Heritage Conference teams coming up short. The Marion Center boys and Purchase Line girls both gave strong efforts but could not advance.

Mark Bertig has the story of Marion Center’s loss in the Triple-A playoffs.
Marion Center coach Paul Hafera credits Southern Huntingdon’s performance from the foul line when it was a three-point game in the final 90 seconds.
Hafera was grateful for senior Kam Rozier’s leadership this season.
Hafera says the loss hurts, but he believes in the players he’ll have coming back next year.
In the other game last night on our Renda Media network, the Purchase Line girls took on the high-scoring Bishop Carroll Huskies in a single-A game at BC.

Purchase Line coach Greg Mahaffey liked the effort by his girls.
Mahaffey says the Red Dragons fought hard against a stacked BC lineup.
Mahaffey expects that his team will improve greatly in the offseason.
Tonight on our Renda Media network, the undefeated Double-A top seed United boys tackle Heritage Conference foe Portage, which is seeded 8th, on 92.5 FM U92. And on WCCS, 101.1 FM and 1160 AM, it’s number 7 Homer-Center traveling to play number 2 Double-A seed Claysburg-Kimmel. Both games air at 6:45 and tip off at 7.
Also tonight, No. 4 Northern Cambria welcomes No. 5 Juniata Valley.
