The NCAA Division III women’s basketball championship bracket was released last night, and there could be a bit of an Indiana County flavor to the second-round matchup.
Penn State Behrend, featuring Homer-Center graduate Alaina Fabin, will play at Hope College in Holland, Michigan on Friday night. If they win, they could play a second-round game Saturday against Indiana High graduate Katie Kovalchick and Washington & Jefferson, which will also play at Hope against Illinois Wesleyan.
Fabin scored 32 points and had 16 rebounds in Behrend’s Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference championship win over Penn State Altoona on Saturday. Kovalchick led W&J to the tournament with a 22-point effort in their Presidents Athletic Conference championship game win over St. Vincent.
