Greensburg Central Catholic won the PIAA girls AAA basketball championship in Hershey last night, knocking off District 2 Holy Redeemer, 52-41, and it was the one-two punch of Erica Gribble and Indiana High transfer Jayla Peterson that led the way. Gribble scored 18 points for the Centurions and Peterson had 17.
Gribble will head to Richmond to play her college basketball, joining former River Valley standout Ava Persichetti, while Peterson has committed to play her college basketball at Wheeling.
In Class AA, Berlin-Brothersvalley won its second straight girls state title with a 55-39 win over Neshannock, the team that had eliminated Penns Manor in the second round of the playoffs.
