No new details have been released by Indiana Borough Police concerning the two reported shootings Saturday night near the IUP Campus.
The first happened around 10 PM in the area of School Street and West Avenue. Officers say five shots were fired before the suspect, 22-year-old Tymere Johnson from Clairton, got into a car and sped off. Police were able to recover five shell casings and the .40 caliber stolen handgun used in the shooting. Johnson is charged with carrying a firearm without a license, receiving stolen property, and firearm possession violations. He was placed in Indiana County Jail in lieu of $250,000. A preliminary hearing will be held on March 26th at 1:00 PM in front of District Judge Anthony Sottile.
A second shooting was reported in the area of South 7th and Locust Streets at 11:15 PM. Details are limited, but police said that this was not related to the earlier shooting. They are not aware of anyone who was injured or targeted in the second incident and there was no evidence of gunfire has been recovered.
