David George Diem, 83, of Rochester Mills passed away on Sunday, March 29, 2026, at Embassy of Hillsdale Park.
David was born on July 30, 1942, in Lock Haven, PA to Robert and Mira Diem. He lived a life defined by hard work and unwavering dedication to family.
He graduated from Trott Vocational High School, Niagara Falls, NY, and went on to serve in the U.S. Navy from 1960 to 1964. He worked all his life as a servant leader retiring from the Punxsutawney School District as the head custodian of the Punxsutawney Middle School.
He was an active member of the First Church of God in Punxsutawney, PA, for 31 years where he served faithfully as a sound technician and general handyman.
David and his wife enjoyed many bus trips to various places in the past few years.
He is survived by his wife Joan Elaine (Anthony) Diem of 61 years; 2 children – Kenneth David (Karen) Diem of Rochester Mills and Annette Jayne (Edward) Young of Seven Valleys, PA; 6 grandchildren – Joshua, Ashlynn, Zachary Young of Seven Valleys and Jenna, Kylie and Lacee Diem of Rochester Mills; 3 great-grandchildren, Weston, Waylon Yong, and Paisley Young of Seven Valley, PA.
Brothers Richard and Ronald (Susan) Diem; sisters Vivian Diem and Diane (Robert) Still; brothers-in-law, John, Robert, Wayne, Charles, and Gary Anthony; sisters-in-law, Peggy Anthony, Betty Anthony, Janet Anthony, Judy Anthony, and Kathy Titus; along with several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by brothers-in-law Clifford and Leroy Anthony; sister-in-law Alice O’Dell; his parents Robert and Mira Diem; and father and mother-in-law Mark and Bertha Anthony.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, April 4, 2026, from 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM at the First Church of God in Punxsutawney, followed by a service led by Pastor Rob Van Fossen. Luncheon to follow. Arrangements entrusted to Shumaker Funeral Home, Inc., Punxsutawney.
