The Steelers are declining the fifth-year option on offensive tackle Broderick Jones.
The move means Pittsburgh won’t lock in Jones for the 2027 season at a cost of just over 19 million dollars. It also comes as Jones deals with a neck injury that could impact his availability for training camp.
With the decision, the Steelers have now declined fifth-year options on five straight first-round picks. The last player to have his option picked up by the team was T.J. Watt.
The move doesn’t necessarily mean Jones won’t return long-term, but it does add another question mark as the team continues shaping its future roster.
