Spirit Airlines yesterday abruptly announced that would cease operations immediately, stranding travelers at Arnold Palmer Regional Airport and at locations to which passengers who had used the airline had flown.
Spirit was the only airline that had flown out of Latrobe, but the airport is in talks with other air carriers. Spirit has used the airport in Latrobe since 2011, but passenger use has steadily declined since the pandemic, and the airline has struggled to survive since.
The Arnold Palmer Regional Airport is in the final stages of a $22 million terminal expansion, hoping to increase passenger service.
