What a game yesterday at Marion Center, where the Stingers scored an unearned run on a Brady Hagerty fielder’s choice grounder in the bottom of the fourth inning, the only run in a 1-0 win over West Shamokin.
Camden Rising threw a complete-game three-hit shutout for the Stingers, striking out five and walking none. Luke McCullough was outstanding for West Shamokin, giving up just a single to Troy Slovinsky, walking three, hitting a batter, and striking out nine, including an immaculate inning in the bottom of the first, when he struck out the side on nine pitches.
Marion Center is 10-4 in the Heritage Conference, with a home doubleheader today against River Valley at 2:30 and a makeup game against Penns Manor at 5:30. West Shamokin has completed its Heritage Conference season at 10-6.
SOFTBALL
West Shamokin remains undefeated with a 13-2 win over Marion Center. Leah Mondi got the win in the circle and she cranked a home run and drove in three runs. Madi Kiern and Elena Gourley both had two hits, each with a double and two RBIs, and Cameron Vandervort had two hits and drove in two runs. For Marion Center, five players each had a hit and Macie Miller drove in two runs.
