House Resolution 420 has been approved by the Pennsylvania House of Representatives, officially designating May 20th as Jimmy Stewart Day in the commonwealth.
State Rep. Jim Struzzi says the resolution recognizes Stewart’s lasting impact as both a Hollywood icon and a decorated World War II veteran. While Stewart is known for a long film career, the resolution also highlights his military service, where he rose to brigadier general and received multiple honors, including the Distinguished Flying Cross and Air Medal.
Struzzi says the designation is a way to honor Stewart’s legacy and his connection to Indiana County.
The measure also comes with a special event in downtown Indiana. The Jimmy Stewart Museum and the production companies behind the upcoming biopic ‘Jimmy’ will be teaming up to bring a special exhibit to the museum. In an interview on Indiana in the Morning on WCCS, Jen Buckles with the Jimmy Stewart Museum talked about what that exhibit will feature.
Visitors will also have a chance to meet K.J. Apa, playing Jimmy in the movie, director Aaron Burns and Kelly Stewart-Harcourt, executive producer and daughter of Jimmy.
