State Senate Republican Leaders have released a statement in connection with threats made towards Democrat lawmakers in the PA General Assembly.
State police said that Adam G. Berryhill of Lebanon had made a “hit list” of 20 Pennsylvania Democrats and started making the threats on his X account, claiming that they were “communist infiltrators” and said that if legal proceedings failed, he would start shooting them. Included on that list were PA House Speaker Joanna McClinton and state Democrat Party Leader Senator Sharif Street.
In a joint statement, Senate President Pro Tempore Kim Ward and Majority Leader Joe Pittman condemned the threats, and said that there were delays in communicating the threats to targeted legislators. They said that “As a result, the communication processes between the Pennsylvania State Police and the Sergeants-at-Arms in the House and Senate chambers are currently under review and being updated to ensure legislators are immediately contacted and made aware of any threat as we would have expected to have occurred.”
