Blairsville police have accused a Trafford resident accused of not performing home improvement work he was paid to do.
Chief Lou Sacco said in a news release that 50-year-old Nickie Perenyi was paid $2500 by a 65-year-old resident of Blairsville for a roof replacement project in December of 2025 and never started the work. The victim made several attempts to contact Perenyi and get her money back, but he failed to return it. The charges were filed yesterday in front of District Judge Robert Bell and a warrant was issued for his arrest. He was found later in the day by police in Trafford and taken to Indiana County Jail.
Perenyi is facing charges of failure to perform home improvement work paid in advance, theft by deception and and receiving stolen property. He is in Indiana County Jail after failing to post $5000 bail. A preliminary hearing is set for July 8th.
