A Philadelphia man is due in court today in connection with a beating that happened last year in Indiana Borough.
Court documents show that 23-year-old Artis Murphy-Butler faces two counts of simple assault as well as single counts of harassment and disorderly conduct for the incident on August 23rd of 2025.
Police say that on that day, Murphy-Butler and a second suspect, 24-year-old Quadir Neal of Johnstown, were involved in a fight at 1:34 AM in the 500 block of Philadelphia Street. The two allegedly beat an un-named man to unconsciousness.
Today’s hearing concerns a Writ of Habeas Corpus, a court order that requires the government to bring a detained person before a judge and prove that their imprisonment is lawful.
