The Steelers must cut their roster down to 53 players by 6 PM today. Yesterday they traded former number one draft pick Broderick Jones and a fourth round draft choice to Dallas for third and sixth round draft picks.
Jones is returning after undergoing offseason spinal fusion surgery for a neck injury suffered in Week 12 last season. He’d lost his starting job at right tackle to Dylan Cook, who himself is being pushed by this year’s top draft choice, Max Iheanachor.
The Steelers have already released ten players, including undrafted rookie free agents Alex Tecza, center Gregory Crippen, defensive backs Jaylon Guilbeau and Tamon Lynum. They also released defensive backs Brandon Hill, Jack Henderson and Daryl Porter, tight end Jaheim Bell, and wide receivers Jakobie Keeney-James, Cornell Powell, Isaiah Winstead, and Levi Wentz, along with linebacker Jamin Davis, a former number one draft choice of the Washington Commanders.
