More superload deliveries to the Homer City Energy Campus are anticipated in the next few weeks into early November, according to PennDOT.
A post on Edwards Moving and Rigging’s social media said today’s trip is to run empty trucks back to Schenley and there will be no transport activity over the weekend, with activity to resume on Monday. After that, PennDOT is saying that deliveries will happen Monday through Friday for the next two weeks and on November 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th.
Superloads are expected to travel from the Schenley Docks in Armstrong County to Route 66 through Leechburg and Apollo to Delmont then to Route 22. It will pull off near the Westmoreland/Indiana County Line near Blairsville to install additional equipment as needed to continue to transport into Indiana County. Around 7:00 PM, the convoy will travel at a very slow speed and vehicles will be unable to pass it. Detours will be posted using Bairdstown Road/West Market Street to East Market Street/Old William Penn Highway to the Route 22/119 interchange. The trucks will resume travel around 9:00 AM the following day to finish the trip to the Homer City Generation site.
Speeds of 10-25 miles an hour are expected during the trips to the energy campus.
There will be additional single-day trips throughout the scheduled times and that will cause slowdowns but no closures along the route.
