Sgt. Jeffrey Hoag and Patrolman First Class Andrew Koszarek were both honored with the “Starsky and Hutch” award at the 25th annual Amen Corner Law Enforcement Awards ceremony at Rivers Casino in Pittsburgh. The two were honored for their work in January when they were able to stop a burglary and stabbing in progress on Oak Street. Detrolen Hobbs of Maryland reportedly was stabbing the victim, a home care worker, when they made their way in. Not only were they able to subdue the suspect, the two were also able to render aid to save the victim’s life.
Indiana Borough Police Chief Justin Schawl said that he is always proud of his officers, but these two in particular.
The Starsky And Hutch award recognizes actions above and beyond the call of duty in action, teamwork or life-saving heroics, and is named after the two characters from the famed TV series.
