On top of the hearing for Ronald Weiss, another homicide case will have a sentencing hearing this morning in Indiana County Court.
Court Documents show that 25-year-old Issac Joel Buchkoski of Johnstown will be sentenced for his pleas of guilty but mentally ill to charges of criminal homicide, kidnapping to facilitate a felony, aggravated assault with intent to cause serious bodily injury and conspiracy to each crime. The charges were filed in connection with the death of Hayden Gareffa, who was kidnapped from his grandmother’s home on Route 403 in Buffington Township on October 20th, 2022. His body was found two days later in an area of tall grass off Oneida Mine Road in Brush Valley Township.
Buchkoski and Summer Settlemyer entered guilty pleas at the same time. Settlemyer received a sentenced of 50 years to life in state prison for her pleas to similar crimes.
A plea of guilty but mentally ill means that the suspect can receive mental health treatment while incarcerated.
