Indiana County Chamber of Commerce president Mark Hilliard told his board of directors at their most recent meeting about a planned roundtable to bring together the various stakeholders in the Homer City Generation/Amazon Web Services discussion, emphasizing the “tremendous economic opportunity” Indiana County has, but also recognizing how important it is to “listen…ask questions, and help everyone better understand” what the power plant and proposed AWS facilities mean to the community.
The roundtable is planned for January.
At the same Chamber meeting, the Office Planning & Development’s Byron Stauffer Jr. talked about plans for considerable roadway and infrastructure development at Indiana County’s business parks over the next twelve to twenty-four months.
Stauffer also said construction of the new corporate hangar at the Jimmy Stewart Airport is two to three month from completion, and that runway improvements will be “a major focus” in 2027. He highlighted the ongoing demolition of the Carriage House apartment complex following completion of asbestos removal, and the work done in the last year at the downtown Indiana Theater, with a new roof and upgraded signage this year.
The Chamber’s annual meeting will be next week, on November 19th.
